Old and New, Past and Future

I want to begin like this, that “What is old and what is new?” Everything that is happening is new, everything that has happened is old and not only this, even what is happening right now is becoming old, becoming old like every second it is becoming old. Ultimately we will come to this promptness and immediacy of living life where we can sense, we can see this. It doesn’t mean that we have to discard the old, value the new. In reality there is nothing like new or old which can happen. Everything that happens is new but everything that happens is happening by using this material of consciousness or light you can say which is the old. The oldest you can say. But at the same time, what I am referring to as new is YOU. You are that new and old at the same time. Old in the sense that you have not become just now, you have not been created just now, you have been here and if you understand the meaning of my statement, you will discover that I have been here today, I have been here yesterday, I have been here this year, I have been here last year. I have been here in this phase of my life, I have been here in the last phase of my life also. And slowly you will discover I have been here forever actually. Since the beginning of time I have been here.

It’s all about sensitivity of our seeing and direction of seeing. What we focus, what we value and you are that material which can give you an experience of newness. You are made of this material. Which can alone give you the experience of newness continuously, continuously. But, then what is mind? Then mind is the a collection of imprints of what happened. When it happened it was a beautiful experience, a movement in consciousness. Now it’s not there anymore. It is like consciousness is ocean and it moves and also it has a mind, just imagine if it has a mind, if it has a camera it keep clicking photos from that camera and then now comparing those images with the today’s state of affairs that ‘Today’s waves are not so much correct waves. They are wrong waves, like there is something wrong in my waves today. They are not matching the perfection criteria, they are not meeting the, you know’! That’s how it will be. There is no possibility of comparison of the past with the present like we were talking. In Hindi for present we have one word, Aaj, but for past and future we also have for past and future only one word, kal. Kal is used for past, kal is used for future also.

Ultimately to come to this purity of being and experiencing of life also, one will actually let everything go. When I say let everything go it doesn’t mean that we have control over things and we can let them go or hold them. No, we can imagine, we can capture their images and we can hold onto the image. When we say don’t hold to anything, it means don’t hold to the image or memory of it. See that it is flowing, it is already gone. When we are like this, living life as it happens then we are in sync with life, not holding any personal or local view about it.

Experiential understanding and Wholistic Listening

Questioner: Joy is a strong word but (now) I can appreciate when a negative experience is happening because not so wrapped up in it.

Rajee: Wonderful! It’s so wonderful actually. This is like being free from some very deep rooted attachment and kind of a misunderstanding. But an experiential misunderstanding not an intellectual one. Because only the experiential understandings can give you the flavour of freedom in a way, even relatively. So if you feel that ‘I am some spaciousness’, it is going to bring joy of relative freedom also. And ultimate freedom in time but if you think that you are spaciousness, it’s not going to help so much. Because what thinks is a only a small aspect of yourself and what feels bondage is another aspect and these two are not communicating with each other yet. They are not in good terms maybe. (Rajee laughing) They need to talk also.
Like this faculty of mind which believes that there is space inside me must also send this message to that feeling, that space inside you, that faculty inside you, which believes that there is very little space, there is only stuff, no space, so that it can communicate. That’s why there is a value of wholistic listening, that you listen wholistically, so that your deeper faculty which believes that there is a trouble, can also listen and get inspired to explore that ‘Is it not really that even this trouble is happening in some sort of a spaciousness inside me?’ Now even if you continue believing that there is a trouble inside you, you will not be able to feel the trouble. This is the beauty of real, real experience. Experiential understanding let’s say, no?

That’s why there is a possibility that somebody may be saying that, ‘I don’t know anything’, and must be and will be absolutely free, actually, from any sense of bondage, and somebody who is saying ‘I know everything about this world and I can talk about everything you bring to me’, and must be living in a very contracted form of consciousness maybe. So it’s nice.

Mind Noise and Letting Go

Questioner: I don’t know what to say right now. there’s some mind noise, but… What is that, mind? mind noise?

Rajee: I want to understand what is this mind noise because if you have mentioned it must be important for you.

Questioner: It’s just that, there has been interest in, or distractedness. I can see a tendency for distractedness in this recent period, but again I can simultaneously sense the background, as soon as I become aware of distractedness, the attention to some extent goes to the background.

Rajee: That’s all right then. So it’s not really something important.
Very nice, very nice.
The more you give value to this background, this spaciousness, this stillness inside you, the more everything comes in the right manner, like gets harmonised in a way. This is the beauty of everything being in balance that you get best out of everything, but it doesn’t mean that you can get more than what it can give you. Like body can give you only a certain degree of pleasure and that pleasure is also subjective, meaning it is dependent on the value you give to it. When you don’t give any value to it, it is like useless for you. But we may kind of keep our body in such an imbalanced state where we don’t get the best out of it maybe. In the same manner mind and so on. And when we try to fix these things from a standpoint of being a body and being a person we don’t quite understand what is going on, and we only interfere in the flow. And that only creates more imbalance, let’s say in a way.

Only this spaciousness, this stillness, when you are able to recognise and appreciate, the more and more value you give to this stillness and you stay in it, it is capable of fixing everything in the most appropriate and wholistic manner. Because wholistic is very important. Your body is fixed but mind is not, so you are a healthy body with an awakened presence, but no mind. Or you are an awakened presence, very efficient mind, unhealthy body (Rajee smiles), Or an awakened presence, mind doesn’t work, body is crippled.

We really don’t have any option or alternative to Letting Go. This we must understand slowly, that none of my capabilities can really fix anything that happens at this scale, where awakening happens. So that is why – Seeing as effort, when necessary, Satsang also and Staying in this stillness, like drinking it, like feeling it – this gives you strength to face any adversities or any sense of disorientation or discomfort caused by this breaking out of ego and also it gives enough pure energy, pure light to every level of body-mind where it needs it actually.

If Bondage is an illusion then how Spiritual freedom can be a Reality?

All I am saying is ‘I am Truth, You are Truth, This is Truth.’ Nothing left to be said actually after this. If anything left to be said it is mainly because there is something moving in you, something is trying to improve itself in you, something trying to complete itself in you, and there is nothing wrong in that by the way because that is also Truth of this moment. But what is your involvement and relation with that which is perfecting itself inside you? That is a very important part of spiritual awakening, that are you attached to that or are you just not attached to anything? Are you involved in that which is perfecting itself inside you or are you just have started resting in you now? That I don’t care who I am, I don’t know what I am, I don’t know really whether I am awareness or I am consciousness, spaciousness or emptiness. I let go of this whole project now, I am now here, just here, in a very simple way here, not in a spiritual way here. In a very ordinary way now I am here. And let me actually first see, is there really anything that needs to be fixed? Or I might be living under some some kind of group hypnosis that everybody is trying to be free from spiritual bondage and so I must also try. And to tell you the Truth, everybody who has become free from this bondage inside has always become free in this way, by seeing that bondage is an illusion. Then how spiritual freedom can be a reality? You are already, always and naturally free.

Losing Boundaries inside you

Truth brings effortlessness from everything. Effortlessness, like you become free from the effort of searching, you become free from the effort of changing, converting it into anything. (Rajee giggles). This is how it is. It is not your responsibility how things are right now. Your joy is to wonder, ‘What exactly is this whole thing inside me? So much is moving, changing.’ There are no names inside you for anything. (Rajee smiles) So you cannot really definitively define things that, ‘OK, so there are like there are million thoughts inside me, 328 feelings inside me right now’, you cannot definitively define like this.

It’s just This, it’s just This!

And the more you lose contact with the mind and the habit of defining, the more it kind of starts merging into itself, like just one thing, it kind of starts losing its boundaries inside you also. Like things happening in the space inside you, they kind of convert, change into space itself, everything is like a space, without anything in space. Do you see what I am saying? So even what is in inside you in the space is your point of view. And if you can relax from that, you see only space inside you, not anything in it. Now if there is nothing in it, only the space, what you will fight with? What you will fix? What you will like to get rid of? What you will like to be free from? (Rajee laughs)
Is it not so, so amazingly beautiful and also funny?

A Balloon called Mind

Mind is as big as you can make it, it’s like a balloon, you can fill as much air in it as you want, air of your involvement and it can also deflate very quickly if you don’t go in it, if you just stay in your stillness. When I say stillness, I don’t mean stillness which you maintain, but a stillness which is already there inside you.

Where am I ? (Part 2)

Questioner – I just want to check that this ‘It’s OK’ is not just the mind trying to get me to be less alert, or something, or whether it’s a more authentic, it’s coming from a more authentic recognition of ‘Don’t chase after this red light, that you have to do something’. So a little uncertainty how true this is.

Rajee – That doesn’t seems to be the case here, in you. The deeper aspect which is peaceful and stable has been recognized and is being appreciated every now and then continuously. So then what we can say about this situation is that it is basically your interest or your desire for complete freedom which is vigilant now, which is like, ‘Let me see, because I don’t want to take chance now’. So what the attitude or the feeling that you have is genuine but just don’t mix it with anything inside you. If at all you want to mix it, mix it with your most stable position which is (the) stillness inside you. Mix this vigilance with that stillness that, ‘I am not going to fall in the traps of mind again’, that ‘I am not going to really, replace or exchange my freedom for anything that comes, even if it is very lucrative, very attractive offer of some great state or something. And if you correlate with what I am saying then already mind has lost its power and with that the sense of confusion is gone, and even if the confusion is there you clearly feel there is no need to attend it.

So it is You who is concerned that ‘Am I making some mistake or should I do really something about it?’ No, you don’t need to do anything about anything. You just stay in your stillness and vigilant. So vigilance is the awareness coming from the background of mind, where you used to suffer or get caught up in things and live an unnatural life in a way. Not in line with your nature, with your True nature which you don’t want now, so that awareness has to be kept, this vigilance is valuable, but you don’t need to keep anything else. Your True nature is always the case and with you, you don’t have to maintain that. You can let everything change inside you now, meaning you can let go, you can afford to lose everything now. You just stay vigilant. So that you don’t move. That’s all.
So it’s good?

Where am I ? (Part 1)

Questioner: There is a questioning inside, that ‘ Where am I? ‘ But I can also see this is the questioning of the one that has an idea of a place to be achieved.

Rajee: Yes, It is like this. For some time that we live in a kind of a mix of two states, which is not only sometime this, sometime that, but even at the same time it is like a mix of two also. And this is where there is a assurance from the truer space that all is well and from the not-so-true space a confusion that ‘Should I do something about it or would it be moving prematurely?’

I want to just share with you in the most simple and fundamental way – That which does not move inside you, is not affected by any movement whatsoever that happens inside you, any experience that happens inside you, and it is not even affected by the experience of bondage from which you are trying to be free.

And so obviously that part, that aspect of your self is least bothered about anything that is going on here, in one sense. So it must be this changeful aspect of you which is concerned about waking up, maintaining the awakened state or clarity, peacefulness, and making sure that I am not falling in the trap again. But in this changeful aspect, when taken as your only reality, will only live as a separate isolated identity from rest of life and from your own deeper aspect also.

An Invitation to explore Truth of this moment

May I invite all of you right now just for five minutes, to explore the Truth together like this? And let me express what I mean by Truth. Truth means This, what is here right now, including everything, including your body, your mind, your thinking, your certain way of thinking, your certain states of comfort or discomfort, a certain desire that I want to be free, all of this together is Truth, no? And if you notice, everything that you are seeing is changing somehow, slowly or quickly. Speed is what matters, what differs, otherwise everything is changing. And this is the Truth of this moment that everything is changing. If you want to know the Truth of life, know the Truth of this moment first. What is the Truth of this moment? Everything that is present inside you is Truth, Truth of this moment. And if you are in search of Truth of this moment why would you change anything inside you, why would you like to change anything, touch anything, improve anything in any way? You will leave everything totally as it is, hundred percent everything is left as it is. Like there is no weight you are putting on anything, not insisting in any way, not demanding anything in any way right now. Everything is so very much allowed or left alone in a way. So this is the Truth of this moment that everything is like a process, like everything is in process. Kind of changing slowly, slowly, slowly. And I want to tell you beloved, it’s a great discovery. This comfortableness with everything that is here right now is the key to discover That which is not changing. You cannot force yourself to discover what is not changing inside you. But you can wisely, out of wisdom, you can let go of your fight with anything and everything that is here right now, that it doesn’t really bring that clarity and that freedom, absolute freedom. So for few minutes I stop fighting with everything that is inside me. Let everything be the way it is.

When you find yourself in a no-man’s land

Satsang is essential for you now because maybe not very often but quite often I feel you might find yourself in a no-man’s land where you are not interested in talking of the mind and discussion or anything and yet you don’t have kind of access to your Self so easily, to the peacefulness, to the real peacefulness, or aliveness of your Self where you kind of feel excited like a child, peaceful but excited also. Like peaceful and celebrating, peacefully your Self. So then satsang is vital for you because generally you are done with the mind, mind has nothing to offer to you now, whether it is spiritual achievement or worldly and yet you may keep holding onto this kind of nothing that you have here like a dead nothingness, dead emptiness. And satsang can very quickly bring you to your natural state where you are empty but very alive and you are nothing but very much like a very alive nothing. Strange word actually, strange term but it is true. Actually you are super happy in being nothing and nobody. Like this we can make sure that mind stands no chance, it cannot create any confusions inside you which you can buy sometime.

So satsang is essential for you.
As I said satsang in the form of this meeting or satsang of your own. If you can connect with your own spaciousness and aliveness.
